Discover a little piece of the Basque mountains and coast, meet the charming small producers and their great products

In this experience we will visit a farm where you will learn from the sheep to the process of Idiazabal cheese production and its tasty derivatives

Idiazabal cheese is the Basque cheese par excellence, made with raw milk from the local "latxa" sheep. Known worldwide for having participated and won international competitions

We will also visit a family winery and enjoy a Txakoli tasting. The "txakoli" is our identity white wine. Don't miss this excellent gastronomic and cultural day

CHEESE FARM & TXAKOLI WINERY

Firstable we will visit a small local Basque cheese factory in the countryside of the area where they produce the tasty and tender idiazabal cheese.

Idiazabal cheese is a local cheese of small size and a great taste, with denomination of origin, made with raw milk from local breed latxa sheep.

We will enter into the life of the shepherd and we will know the herd, where they sleep, where they graze, passing through the milky place where we will learn about the process, we will see how cheese and its derivatives are made.

Afterwards we will have the pleasure of tasting different types of cheese, curd and sweet accompanied with the typical local cider or water.

With this great taste in our mouths, we will head towards the second destination, on the basque coast, the Txakoli winery in a dreamlike landscape.

We will visit a small family winery where they make only about 100,000 bottles a year, with a lot of care and love.

Txakoli, or txakolina, is the queen of Getaria as the local song says, and is another of the star products of the Basque country. It is a very fresh and easy to drink white wine with a touch of sparkle that is incredibly addictive.

The tour with the owner of the winery will be fantastic, he will energetically show us the whole process, from browsing through the vines to seeing the inside where the wine rests.

Afterwards we will taste the Txakoli ( 3 different types) accompanied by a light lunch, some good green chilli peppers and anchovies from the town of Getaria, km0 salad and fresh made potato omelette with bread) making the gastronomic scene totally exceptional. Topa! (cheers in Basque).

After these two experiences we will approach the village of Getaria, where Juan Sebastian Elkano, who circumnavigated around the world in an epic journey in 1522 was from. Let´s celebrate the 500th anniversary!

We will stroll through the medieval cobbled streets, looking at the houses with their wooden balconies and the church of San Salvador, a gothic jewel of the Basque architecture.

After the walk you will be able to buy anchovies, tuna and local products in its small gourmet boutiques and we will return to San Sebastian after a very full day.
